How many times you've heard a new release and you've said 'This song remember me ...'

This page will begin to catalog the old seventies and eighties songs used as sampler in new releases.

If you know any of these e-mail me and I'll put here with your name !!

CHANGE "The Glow Of Love" 1980 (RFC Records)

Also the great Janet Jackson in this last hit "All for you" has sampled a great funky song ... of CHANGE !! Now you know why this success ! "The Glow of Love" was a success in the summer of 1980. Produced by Jacques Fred Petrus with the Italian Mauro Malavasi. In New York they teamed up with Luther Vandross (vocal in "The Glow of Love") and Jocelyn Shaw (now Jocelyn Brown).

B.T. EXPRESS "1980" (COLUMBIA)

From this great album (1980) that also contains the wonderful "Give it up the funk", PHATS & SMALL have reworked the beautifull "Does it feel good to you" and have created their latest hit "Feel good" (MULTIPLY).

PINO D'ANGIO' "Ma quale idea" (KILL ROY)

Inspired by this old italian record of Pino d'Angiò the Australian Madison Avenue have created something that should becoming a hit during the next few months. The arrangements are brillant and above all the female vocals. To complete the works there are also the hands of "Subliminal-The-Dronez Boy" who make this double vinyl pack very useful in all versions, even the acapella !!

DOUBLE EXPLOSURE "My love is free" (12" - SALSOUL)

It’s impossible to remember just how many times this has been sampled !!! Definetly one of those that left its mark is Hard Drive, a track that was rereleased on Strictly Rhythm in 1993 and was mixed by Little Louie Vega & Tony Humphries. This track also contains a short sample of keyboard and bass, that, recently, has been re-sampled for the very French label Riviera.

GEORGE BENSON "The world is a ghetto" (12" - WB)

From this very rare disco mix Frankie Feliciano has sampled and filtered a short loop of the bass and keyboard calling "One note samba".

HAROLD MELVIN & THE BLUE NOTE "To be true" (LP - PHILADELPHIA)

"Bad luck", a track from his brillant album from 1975 on yhe mythical Philadelphia label, has been used recently on the double mix from Deborah Cox ("It’s over now") that has been published by Arista. You can chek this out for yourself by listening to the "Hex Retro" version.

RAYDIO "Rock on" (LP - ARISTA)

You can find from double mix from Deborah Cox ("It’s over now") a great R’ & B’ version remixed by Allstars where you can hear the use of a sample taken from the track "More than one way to love a woman" that is included on this second album from Raydio, produced in 1978 by the great Ray Parker Junior.

RHYZE "Just how sweet is your love" (12" - SAM)

From Germany, on the Formaldheid label, we get the interesting version by Studio 54 of the song "Flybaby 062", constructed completely around a sample from RHYZE and, better, utilising the guitar loop and the theme from the horns.

SAM JAM "Dance and chant" (12" - LES DISQUES MARTIN)

Mr. Silk Hurley must have changed a few tones or maybe just got the idea from it. All this to realise that masterpiece "The world is love", from which there was the following invasion of ‘disco style basses’ (octaved)

THELMA HOUSTON "The devil in me" (LP - TAMLA)

To create "what you need", one of the biggest trak, Powerhouse feat. D Harden has sampled the track "I’m here again" (1977) and the entire loop runs for the whole record making it killer !!!

TRAMMPS "The whole word’s dancing" (LP - ATLANTIC)

From the track "Teaser" that is contained on this album from 1979 the latest Aquarius has been realised, entitled "The get down e.p.", using just the bass loop and a few samples vocals.
